Surviving First Week of School

Last week was my turn to take little Miss Lauren to her new school. Usually daddy takes her and is the bad guy for leaving her. But this time it was my job. As she wrote before, we were going to try the original class again, since she seemed to like it so much on the 4th. Besides the other teacher didn't write a long summary of how great she behaved. Miss Halaih is her new teacher and is really super sweet and has a great love for kids. (You can just tell from looking at her that she connects really well with them).
Well, my baby girl started out the morning kinda rough, a little runny nose (allergies are out of control this year), woke up a little earlier than normal and didn't seem to feel very well. I think she was already using the "mom, I don't wanna go to school b/c I don't feel well tactic". Hmmm...but I didn't let it get to me this time!
I dropped her off around 8:45 and she cried as I was leaving. Just broke my heart!! It was SO HARD to see her sweet little face turning red and tears starting to fill up her eyes. I had to give her my goodbye kisses in a hurry and leave right away. (the teachers say that is the best thing to do). I stuck around outside the class for a minute, then peeked in...all was good...she stopped crying. Yayy!
This week has been a major improvement, not as many tears and seems to be excited when we talk about school. She survived her first week....and so did we!

My First Day of School!

Hi everyone, not sure who reads my mommy's blog, because she never updates it, but I wanted to share with you my experience - First day of school. She lets me write in her blog every now and then....(smile)
I started last week before my parents went on their realllly looong vacation. I had a trial day on Tuesday, 9/4. I had a great day, meeting new friends, new teachers, new everything!! I was in school from 9am - 5pm...it was quite a long day. Afterall, I'm used to spending the days with my Grandma'ma, taking 2 full naps, and having all the attention to MYSELF! This school only allows me to take 1 nap...uh...hello...I'm only like 13 months and I need my beauty rest still. Pshh..( my mommy taught me that)
Well, I survived the day. My report card said - I ate some, I slept from 11:45 to 1:30 and woke up with smiles. The comments from my Teacher were really nice. I'll read them to you, "Lauren had a good day today. She enjoyed circle time with books and especially puppets and singing songs. She also tried painting with paintbrush for art (she wasn't too sure about it). We love her beautiful smiles and we love to have her in our classroom".
I'm not bragging, but I sure did behave that day. All my teachers love me!

Now yesterday 9/17, I returned to my school. Totally different situation. I did not want to stay with them at all. I have been really attached to my mommy and daddy since they came home from their vacation. So much, that I didn't want to let go of Mommy at Madelaine's Birthday party on Saturday and wouldn't let go of Daddy yesterday at school. He waited with me for about an hour before I finally let go and began to read with Miss Sarah. She's my new teacher. They're letting me try this class, b/c the kids are a little older and my daddy thought I fit in more with them. What can I say...I'm a smart kid! :)
My report card from Miss Sarah said, "Lauren had a great day, she liked music and art class today". She didn't write very much about me...PSSH...What-Ever......so I'm gonna try the other class again on Wednesday. I'll let you know how things go.
By the way...mommy will be taking me to school tomorrow, because my daddy left out of town to start his new job. I hope to do better tomorrow so that mommy will have a peaceful day at work without worrying about me. :)
Night-Night,
Lauren

Jamaica Slide Show

After spending countless hours uploading the pictures to this slide show program - it crashed and didn't save most of my changes. Ughh...so irritated. I'm posting it anyway and will work on editing again later.
As you can see, we had an awesome time. Hope you enjoy the fun memories we all shared in Jamaica!

Our Trip to Jamaica

Kevin and I just returned from Holly and Tman's wedding on the beautiful Island of Negril, Jamaica. This was our first trip to Jamaica...and wow, what a wonderful place!!! We stayed at the Gorgeous Tensing Pen Resort, a small intimate property located on the Caribbean Sea consisting of approximately 16 private cottages on the western side of the island. The private Jamaican cove was a beautiful setting for afternoon wedding in the Sea Song Hut and the weather was just perfect for the VanDeventer - Nguyen Nuptials. Holly looked beautiful in her strapless ivory gown with very simple elegant lace over the entire dress. Ati looked very handsome in his pressed white shirt with tan linen pants and brown leather sandals...truly a great looking, happy couple!!

Holly and Tman invited 40 of their closest friends and family to help them celebrate this wonderful occasion and we were honored to be included. My honey was the best man and did a great job at supported his best friend during his special weekend.

The friends arrived before the bride and grooms family; Wednesday night we had dinner and drinks at the resort and then moved the party down to the pool. This was a great time for everyone to enjoy spending time with Holly and Tman before the wedding activities began the following day. Thursday morning we started the day by having breakfast on the outdoor patio overlooking the Caribbean Sea - listening to the waves crashing against the rocks surrounding Tensing Pen was a beautiful setting to begin the day. The main activities consisted of jumping off cliffs located on the property approximately 30 feet above the ocean, sailing on the crystal blue waters, laying out on the beach, and enjoying time in the pool with friends after a long day. Pool closed at 7pm, but what time do you think we left? Can't remember, but it definitely wasn't 7pm. This resort was very secluded with limited access to telephone service and no TV in the rooms. Our group enjoyed the private feel, but didn't obey their rules. No Problem, mon!! :)

Well, we have returned to our home-sweet-home and are happy to be back. Vacations are always a great time to get away from our daily, busy lives...but it's always good to come home to our sweet baby girl and peaceful home. We took over 450 pictures, but I will be including 400 for your viewing pleasure....HA!! (photos coming soon)
