Dylan's Birthday Party!

well, it's official my baby boy is now 1! he's actually 14 months...but i'm a little delayed in updating my blog with birthdays, dr. appts, fun times, etc... so bear with me.
we had a small get-together and my mom's house to celebrate our little man's big day! he wasn't very excited about it, but gosh-darnit...we were gonna celebrate!! i notice more and more with kids that when you want really really badly for them to behave, be in a good mood, nap well, smile for pictures...they are adament about NOT doing these things. so this day was one of those days. all i wanted was for my sweet boy to enjoy himself and have fun with cousins and swimming. he's just not fond of the attention. however, once the singing, cake cutting, pictures were all done...he was truly a Happy Camper. you'll see the pictures below.

the last picture of the day.... doing pull-ups on the canopy at my parents house. having much more fun now!!

I’ve noticed that Dylan’s personality is so different than Lauren at 13 months. he is very, very active and all over the place...also very strong willed and vocal! he’s not using full words yet, but boy, can you tell when he’s not happy or wants something. When I am holding him, he likes to pinch my arms really hard; as if he’s afraid I’m going to drop him. (promise that has never happened, but if you saw him, you would think otherwise). As for my hair…pshh, i’m surprised I even have any left on my head. he is constantly pulling on that too. Ouch!

something i realized the other day - I probably need to watch what I am saying very carefully. Lauren turned to her baby brother and said, “DYLAN, you’re wearing me out!!” Uhm…I wonder where she learned that phrase from?? Not me. (Wink)

take me out to the ballgame....

this was dylan's first time to see the roughriders in frisco. we went a couple of weeks ago and had a great time. everyone behaved rather well, even though we stayed up a little later than usual.

the first sequence of pictures are of the little man trying to escape the stoller....

"maybe if i push real hard, i'll manage to get out..."

"okay, let's try kicking my legs like crazy"

"nope, let's push harder..."

"what does this strap do? maybe i can pull it off"

"let's try pushing one more time..."

"AHA...i'm out! this is much better"

"oh yeah baby, this is way cooler than being strapped in"

"what's up...just trying to enjoy a little ballgame...geez"

"no way am I gonna get close to that huge...mystery animal" so trying to escape...
"but lauren is enjoying herself, and that's all that matters."

"why is my big sis always pulling on me...ahhh!"

"i think it's time to go home. oh wait, just ooone more picture, just had to get a family shot!"

this picture pretty much wraps up the week.
half eatin' chicken nugget and exhausted!!

Lauren is 3!

Lauren just celebrated her 3rd birthday; of course it wasn't just one day of festivities, we had something for her each day of the week it seemed. actually it was more like two weeks. celebrations at home, zoo, school, grandparents, everywhere we went...we were singing her the birthday song. when i tried to celebrate mine, she would say, 'no mommy it's not YOOOUR birthday, it's MYYYY birthday! uhm, what was i thinking trying to steal her thunder? hathis year we had it at Kreative Kidz Partyz in Plano - wow, this place really does great parties!! i give it 2 thumbs up and would totally recommend it!! we had a Hello Kitty Princess Theme Dress-up Party- girls were princesses and the boys were prince and knights. it was too too cute and all of lauren's friends seemed to Love it!!
As the guests arrived at the party, there was a cute table set-up with balloons and lauren took a picture with each of her friends. once they finished with the pictures, then they moved to a coloring/ sticker station where they did some arts and crafty projects. then, they moved into the dress up room. all the girls changed into princess dresses and the boys quickly changed into prince and knights costumes. it was truly the most adorable thing. they sang, played games, had bubble machines, and they sat on the floor surrounding the birthday princess! the friends went around the room saying something nice about the lauren. so so sweet to hear the kiddos giving lauren such great compliments. some of them said, 'we like how you always give me a hug when i see you'. "your smile and eyes are very pretty", and so on....
at the end of the party, she gave each of her guests a very special personalized thank you note with the picture of her and that guest. It was such a unique way to end the incredible birthday celebration!
lauren was a little overwhelmed with all of the attention, but overall had a terrific time and has not stopped talking about her Hello Kitty Princess Party!

we were honored to have our photo taken with the birthday princess!
