As long as Kevin and I have been together (16 1/2 years) the month of July has always been super busy for us. Beginning with the 4th of July festivities, my birthday on the 14th, Kevin’s on the 21st, and now our baby girl Lauren’s on the 31st....it seems like we never stand still. This year seemed even crazier because Kevin turned the big 4-0 and we planned a much needed vacation to beautiful Cancun Mexico with a few of our best friends. There were six couples and we all left our kiddos at home with grandparents and loved ones. Believe me...it was really hard to say good-bye to our babies, but we all needed this alone time with our other half. we were gone for 6 days/ 5 nights, which was plenty of time to lay out, eat, drink and be merry...(okay so it's not Christmas, but you get the point...we had a blast!!)
We arrived on Friday at the Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa. Upon check-in, we were greeted by the hotel staff with cold hand towels and an icy cold beverage. You have no idea how delicious that cold water was... after traveling all day!! Even though it's only a 2.5 hour flight, going through customs can really drag it out. Especially when your friends (uh-hem...Glasscocks) seem to look pretty shady to the Mexican federalies (sp?) and have to get their bags searched. Which by way - quick note, IT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA TO TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR FRIENDS GETTING THEIR BAGS CHECKED. I learned that the hard way. The agent-lady quickly rushed over to me and made me delete the photo...hmm, I wonder what's up with that?!?! Oh well...it's still in my mental rolodex...who needs the jpg when you have the brain. ha!!
Anyways, we quickly changed into our swim suits after check-in and went for a dip in the pool. Since it was an all-inclusive resort, we couldn't help but order an icy cold beverage from the bar located IN the pool (always greatness) as soon as we arrived. And the rest of the night is history.... okay; we actually turned in a little early due to the lack of sleep in preparing for our fun vacation. We wanted to be well rested for the rest of the week, so we took the smart approach and turned in early....12AM after hanging out in one of the hotel bars. Ha!
Saturday- we started off by heading to the beach and getting some sun! TIME TO GET RID OF OUR PASTY WHITENESS. I know you're thinking, 'really, YOU getting rid of the pasty white??!!', but really I just needed to add a golden look to my boring 'light brown' self.
Saturday night we had an awesome dinner planned to celebrate my honey's big birthday. Everyone brought gag gifts and funny cards and also shared great stories...there was even a heart-felt poem written by Tucker to help embarrass the heck out of the birthday boy. Really, it made his eyes “water” more than embarrass him…it was too funny, yet very sweet. I wish I could post it, but I believe the author quoted the famous words: "what happens in Cancun stays in Cancun". So unfortunately, the poem cannot be released at this time. :) Sorry.
The rest of the trip was spent laying out, playing Frisbee, talking smack, listening to the Kman Cancun Compilation, eating, drinking, and dancing allll night loooong!!
Oh, almost forgot to mention...our resort had this special attraction where you could swim with the dolphins. Our friends Kellie and Kasey tried it. It looked like so much fun!! It’s too bad we didn't try it, but we sort of feel like we did...through them. They can now say, “i have been swimming with dolphins" pretty cool!
Well, enough talking about the trip - I have included several 'hundred' photos of our good times.
Can’t wait till next year’s trip. Friends...where next??!! :)
